1. Treatment
Your preferred colour and type of leather is dyed in two stages with a special treatment, the uppermost layer having a darker colour, giving it an almost black appearance. This may look a little unnerving but don’t worry, it’s all part of the process.
2. Hide Application
Once the hide has been prepped, it will be carefully upholstered to the prepared frame of your sofa or chair ready for the final stage.
3. Rub-Off
The third stage is the most delicate of all, as one wrong move could ruin the much sought after antique look. This is where our professional leather workers will take over, using a special solution on the darkened hide. This solution will be gently rubbed into the darkened leather, revealing the lighter colour below but leaving the darkened colouring in the grain and in the grooves. This contrast between the lighter surface and the dark is what gives the furniture an antique-like appearance.
You will no doubt be blown away by the end result and enjoy peace of mind that you will be completely approved by us, as anything that’s not up to our standard won’t leave the workshop until it’s right. We take pride in every single piece of furniture we produce, so rest assured that you will get exactly what you wished for.
